The Reef of Rarotonga Island

The water of the lagoon around Rarotonga is warm and clear and in some spots the numbers of fish can be amazing. Local staff or residents will be able to tell you where the best snorkelling spots are, but one can find good snorkelling almost anywhere. This short video clip gives a glimpse of the underwater marine life. In reality it is much more colourful, but the video does show the bounteous amount of fish species and fish numbers.

Snorkelling is one of the top activities in Rarotonga as most properties are right on the beach. It is just a few steps to enter the warm and clear waters for swimming and exploring the reef with snorkel and mask. Then relax on the beach and enjoy the tropical climate. Other activities can be found of course, from golf, to cross-island hiking, to visiting cultural centres or buying a piece of exquisite black pearl jewellery as a keepsake of your holiday in Cook Islands and its wonderful marine environment.
