The Cook Islands comprise many small islands and atolls spread over a vast area of ocean. Extremely photogenic, they epitomise the essence of the romance of a South Seas paradise.
The main island is Rarotonga, which is found towards the south of the islands. The international airport is close to the capital of Avarua on Rarotonga, and one of the main airlines to arrive here is Air New Zealand. The Cooks are closely aligned with New Zealand, and the main currency is the New Zealand dollar.
Rarotonga is the centre of tourism and accommodation is found right around the perimeter. The second most visited destination in Cook Islands is beautiful Aitutaki.
