Aitutaki Island Videos
The most stunning of all Cook Islands destinations must surely be the Aitutaki Lagoon, an almost perfect atoll formation and one of the world's most well-known vacation destinations. Photos and videos of Aitutaki Island, its motu and its lagoon always portray the breathtaking beauty, with blue skies, turquoise lagoon, white sand beaches and swaying palm trees. It was the location for the popular TV production Survivor - Cook Islands, and as such was well-photographed throughout the episodes. Aitutaki must be one of the most romantically inspiring destinations to be a castaway! Aitutaki has three volcanic islands - Aitutaki, Rapota and Moturakau - as well as 12 motus (islets) that encircle a huge lagoon. It is 20 kilometres at its widest point and three-quarters of it is less than 4.5 metres (15 feet) deep.
